  March 2011 Newsletter

Greetings Multisporters,

Registration is now open for the all new Logs Rocks and Steel Muskoka race course.  Early-brid registration fees will be in effect until May 31, 2011.  New accommodations information is also available on the Race Details page of the website.  Affordable indoor (cabins) and outdoor (camping) options are available at our new host site, Camp Pine Crest.  We've also recently partnered with the Quebec-based multisport event Ultimate XC and will be offering free entries to their 2012 event for our 2011 solo Championship Course winners.  And finally, as in past years, all teams-of-2 at Logs Rocks and Steel will earn points in the Ontario Adventure Racing Points Series (OARPS).  New for 2011, OARPS will recognize both Pro and Sport categories, check out the website for more details.
Logs Rocks and Steel proudly supports YMCA Strong Kids

We're thrilled to announce YMCA Strong Kids as the Charity our event will support. We couldn't dream of an organization more closely aligned with our ethos; sending under-privileged kids to camp where they'll experience many of the sports practiced in Logs Rocks and Steel is just perfect. Those interested in raising funds for Strong Kids can sign-up, and create their own online "Storyteller" profile, which allows users to manage fund-raising efforts in an online environment.
World Multisport Championships Congratulations

A huge congratulations to Barb Campbell and Jack Van Dorp for their respective efforts in tackling the Coast to Coast World Multisport Championships in New Zealand this past February.  Barb and Jack both won free entry, plus $1000 cash sponsored by GUATS at Logs Rocks and Steel this past summer.  Jack bettered his 12th place finish from 2010 by cracking the top 10 and placing 9th this year.  He was also the highest ranked international competitor.  Barb's Coast to Coast journey ended as she barely missed a race-course cut-off late in the event (over 30% of participants DNF in this grueling, aptly named "longest day" event).  For blow-by-blow accounts of both Jack and Barb's experiences, please visit their respective blogs: vandorpracing.com  Barbs training log
