2010 Date Announcement
After another successful event in the Haliburton Highlands, we're happy to report we'll be returning to the Frost Centre Institute for the 2010 event. Again, the event will run on the Saturday of the Labour-Day Long Weekend (Saturday September 4th, 2010). We understand the long weekend might not be ideal for everyone, with back-to-school preparations underway; however, it seems to be the best weekend for the event, after taking into consideration host-site availability and an already jammed; multisport, triathlon, mountain bike, trail running & adventure racing schedule. Registration for the 2010 event will open early in the new-year.

Changes for 2010
Thanks to everyone who took the time to send us both constructive and encouraging feedback from this past summer's event. As a result, we'll be implementing the following changes in 2010:
-
Better course markings in general, but especially in and around the host site, start/finish and transition area
-
Wider on-water start area for the Frost Course
-
More single-track mountain biking (we've proposed building new trails with local land-managers and we're awaiting approval)
-
New route with easier logistics for the Championship Course. (We tested a new route this past fall, which is every bit as challenging, scenic and rewarding as past courses, but will not require a support-crew. See the "course info" section on our website for complete details.)

Multisport World Championships
As most of you know, the Logs Rocks and Steel Championship Course serves as the only Canadian Qualifying event for the Solo World Multisport Championships. The World Championships have been hosted annually in New Zealand for the past 27 years. This years first-place male (Jack Van Dorp) and third-place female (Ursula Tracz) accepted the qualifying free-entries and have been training diligently to represent Canada this February. I caught up with the pair this past weekend where they talked me into joining them for a paddling session on the Beaver River in Thornbury, Ontario. Pictured is Jack testing a down-river boat, similar to what they'll use during the world-champs, which includes a 67km down-river section as part of the aptly named "longest-day", 243km event. If you'd like to follow their journey, Jack has started a website (http://www.vandorpracing.com/), which includes a blog. Good luck Jack & Ursula!
