  August 31, 2010 Pre-Race Info.

Welcome to the 3rd Annual GUATS - Logs Rocks & Steel multisport adventure scheduled for this Saturday September 4th, 2010..

Below you'll find important race information, please read carefully.

If you haven't done so already, please read the Competitor Information Package found at the following link.  This document contains critical information pertaining to the event and all participants must read it before participating.

If you are renting a boat from us, please preview the document at this link.  If you think you're renting a boat, but don't see your name on this list, contact me ASAP, either by e-mail (info@logsrocksandsteel.com), or by phone at the number listed below.

Race Kit Pick-up will take place under the Picnic Shelter near the Finish Line at the Frost Centre.  See the map at this link, which displays where this is.  This map also describes the Finish Line, Transition Area and how the different courses access & leave the grounds.  For those camping at the Frost Centre, this map indicates where you're allowed to camp.  Campsites are not being pre-assigned, but there are three large areas where camping is permitted.  If you are camping, you are responsible for removing all garbage from your site.  This is not an established campground, so we are not allowed to have campfires at our campsites.  There is a large fire pit where fires are permitted (#21 on the map).  Please do not block the main driveway of the Frost Centre.  If you plan on camping on the front lawn, you may park on the grass.  Also, we're not permitted to park in the lot next to the Haliburton Highlands Water Trails Office (building #19).

You'll find a copy of this year's course map at the following link.  Please note, participants must follow the route marked in the field.  This is not a true adventure race, where participants can choose there own route, it is more like an off-road triathlon, mountain bike race, or trail running race where you must follow the marked route.   Copies of this map will be given out at Race Kit Pick-up.

There will not be meals available for sale to the general public this year, so if you have friends, or family coming to spectate, plan accordingly.

Finally, if you need to reach me before the race, or if you plan on carrying a cell phone on the course below is my cell phone number.  Note, I'll be onsite beginning this Wednesday, and won't have access to e-mail after that time.

I hope everyone has a safe trip to the host site.  Keep an eye on the forecast, since it appears we may have some cooler weather this weekend.

Sincerely,

Bob Miller
